— Congratulates Dr Herbert Wigwe On his University Project
Emohua Local Government Chairman, Dr Chidi Lloyd was among the dignitaries who attended the commissioning ceremony of the Elele Internal Roads project executed by Gov Nyesom Wike led Government of Rivers State held in Elele town Ikwerre LGA on Tuesday.
The commissioning ceremony which is one of the activities lined up to mark the end of Gov Nyesom Wike’s administration also had in attendance the Governor-Elect of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara; Deputy Governor and Deputy Governor-Elect, Dr Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo and Prof. Ngozi Odu respectively amongst other notable leaders of Rivers State and top government functionaries.
Earlier, Dr Chidi Lloyd joined dignitaries from all walks of life to witness the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Senate Building at the newly established Wigwe University in Isiokpo, also in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State.
Wigwe University is the second Indigenous Private University established in Rivers State under the administration of Gov Nyesom Wike.
The newly established university was founded by Dr Herbert Wigwe, the chairman of Access Bank and founder of ‘The HOW Foundation’, a prominent son of Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality from Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA.
Gov Wike who performed the groundbreaking of the University’s Senate Building commended its founder for not only investing his hard-earned resources in his home State but for also situating the institution in his home town in Isiokpo, describing him as a true son of Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality and Rivers State.
Dr Lloyd congratulated Herbert Wigwe on the successful approval of Wigwe University by the Federal Executive Council, describing the establishment of the university as a great feat in human capacity development.
The chairman of Access Bank and founder of Wigwe University, Dr. Herbert Wigwe said the establishment of the university is in line with his foundation’s commitment to human capacity development.
He said the institution which is billed to have its first matriculation in the 2024 academic year was conceptualized to compete favourably with the best universities around the world with 40% foreign academic staff and world-class infrastructure.
Former Governors of Delta and Gombe States, Chief James Ibori and Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo respectively were amongst other dignitaries who witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony.
